Our Mission

Our mission is to prevent the propagation, cultivation, growing, and raising of genetically engineered organisms (GEOs) in Napa County.

The precautionary principle provides the basis for our mission. It states that new products with the possibility of harm to the public health or the environment should not be introduced until sufficient study has been done to prove that they will not have a negative impact. Currently in the United States, GEOs are virtually unregulated by the government, even though scientists have warned of serious health and environmental risks. We believe it is the responsibility of the state or federal government to regulate GEOs; however, they have yet to do so. Therefore, no GEOs should be introduced into Napa County until an effective regulatory system is in place.
